St. Jean Baptiste - our sister Parish in Haiti
The St. Barbara Parish 'Haiti Twinning Mission' focuses on developing a personal relationship between the parishes of St. Barbara in Harrison City, Pennsylvania and St. Jean Baptiste Parish in Montrouis, Haiti. The parishes work to develop a mutually enriching relationship of sharing, solidarity and understanding. In addition, St. Barbara Parish raises funds and sends resources to our sister parish to help with various special project, especially the St. Jean Baptiste School.
We learned recently that Fr. Antoine Charles is being transferred, effective April 19. He has been named pastor of the new parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help of Florenceau. After some discussion, the Haiti Committee concluded that our relationship is with St. Jean Baptiste parish. Two members of the Haiti Committee will travel to Montrouis in May to meet the new pastor, Fr. Georges Antoine Cadet. In the meantime, we are attempting to help Fr. Antoine locate a twin sister parish in the United States. Please pray that there is a smooth transition for both parishes and priests.
