CATECHIST 'MEET AND GREET"...Thank you to all those who have already volunteered! We have scheduled a CATECHIST “MEET AND GREET” on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:30 PM in the St. Barbara Room. All catechists for preschool through Grade 5 are asked to attend. Your manuals/binders will be available at this meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the formation office.

VIRTUS Protecting God’’s Children awareness session is required for each formation program volunteer. You can attend: September 24, 9:00 AM-noon, St. Mary Parish, Kittanning. Call 724-548-7649 to register.

SACRAMENTAL PREP INFORMATION will be mailed to parents of all Grade 2 candidates. The Rite of Enrollment will be on Sundays, September 25 and October 2. parents and candidates must attend their specific Mass and the following parent/child session. Each child enrolled in Sacramental Prep must also beenrolled in our formation program or Catholic school. If your child is eligible and you did not receive a letter, please contact the formation office.

Dear Parents:

Saint Barbara Parish has been truly blessed in many ways as it has grown throughout the years. One of those ways is through the leadership of Mr. Ken Meyer as Director of Religious Formation. Now that Ken is retiring after 37 years of dedicated service, it is natural to wonder what comes next. Well, for starters, I will be joining the staff at Saint Barbara. I have been working as a Director of Religious Education in the Diocese of Pittsburgh for the last eight years. I look forward to meeting you all and sharing this journey of faith with you and your children.

As I learn more about the programs that Ken, Mary Ann and their teams have put in place, I am in awe of the scope and depth of the educational curriculum that your family is receiving. Therefore, it makes sense to continue to operate with minimal changes this year. You will notice in the attached documents that nothing is changed with the registration process or the schedule for the upcoming catechetical year. What will change is our base of operations. While we will be working out of the current formation space during programming times, our regular business hours will be spent in our new space on the second floor of the parish office building. This is being done to more fully integrate the entire staff of the parish and to facilitate open communication.

You will notice that the deadline for registration is August 19^th. Your cooperation in returning your registration form and payment by then would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me at 724-744-4885 or formation@stbarbara.org or stop in for a visit after August 1^stin our “new” offices. You are in my prayers as we embark on this journey together.
