St. Barbara Youth Ministry

Junior/Senior High Youth Ministry

St. Barbara Youth Ministry various main components are: Catechetical, Service, Social and Prayer & Worship. Junior High Youth Ministry (Grade 6, 7 & 8) Catechetical sessions are offered on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Senior High Youth Ministry (Grade 9-12) Catechetical sessions are offered on Sunday evenings from 7:15-8:45 p.m.

St. Barbara Ladies Guild Scholarship - 2010

Attention Seniors:

2010 Ladlies Guild ScholarshipAs graduation approaches, it is time again to award the St. Barbara Ladies Guild 2nd Annual Scholarship. A $500 (each) scholarship will be awarded to two St. Barbara youth, one male and one female. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the student's account at the college/school of choice. Scholarship applications are available in the Formation office or on the website. Application deadline is April 23. Any questions, contact the Formation office at 724-744-4885 or .

Senior High Core Team

We have a Senior High “Core Team” under the coordination of Elisa Kent. The “Core Team” gives input to all components of the program, especially with the planning and implementation of social and service events as well as worship.

Market Day:

Market Day is a valuable fundraiser for our youth ministry program.

Market Day offers high quality foods at a great value. Customer rave about the delicious array of menu items. Market Day takes place once a month all year except for the month of July.

Order forms are available in the parent’s alcove or can place your order online at www.marketday.com

Youth and adults volunteers are always need for the once-a-month order delivery dates. Contact the formation office to volunteer.

Upcoming Events

Jr. High Silhouette Stations – Friday, March 26

Rehearsals begin: Tuesday, February 23.
Rehearsal dates:

  • Tuesday, March 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 25 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Sr. High Retreat “A Night with Jesus”

When: Friday, March 5 – 6, 2010
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Cost: $25 per person

Open to all youth grade 9-12. This Lent join us for a retreat that will bring you closer to Jesus. Our night includes Mass, dinner, Reconciliation, workshops, Stations of the Cross, scavenger hunt, movie and much more. For more information contact the Formation office. Registration is required. Watch your e-mail for further updates.

Sr. High Service Project – Westmoreland Food Bank

Saturday, March 20, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Sign up at Youth Group on Sunday, February 14, or contact the Formation office. We will carpool from St. Barbara so adults/chaperones will be needed for this project.

Middle School Faith Night

Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Bosco Center

Open to all youth grade 6-8, sponsored by the Diocese. There will be a Speaker, Music, Games and Fun from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Cost $10. Watch your e-mail and the bulletin for updates and registration information.
