With each fall comes nothing quite as exciting as the Friday Night Lights shining down upon players and fans inside Warrior Stadium.
Friday night football in Harrison City is top notch, but to be realistic once the lights go down, there are not a lot of options for the young people in our community to socialize with friends. Enter The After Party - a fun, safe and free form of nightlife for high school students.
The After Party, sponsored by St. Barbara Parish Youth Ministry, was officially announced in August 2014. Attendance numbers increased to nearly 300+ students Friday nights in 2016. Simply put, the event is growing, and with the support of Father Michael Sikon, pastor, District Magistrate Judge Helen Kistler, as well as Dr. Matthew Harris, Penn Trafford School District Superintendent, it's also going nowhere anytime soon.
The After Party offers a Friday night hangout after all Penn Trafford High School home football games. We open the doors to students after halftime and close at midnight. The night includes food and beverages, live music, games, a bonfire, and prizes. It's also just a short walk from Warrior Stadium, which has proved to be an added bonus. Bags are checked at the door, no open containers are allowed inside and adult supervision and security are on hand.
The event, which was created by the youth and adult core members of the parish's youth ministry program, has proven to be a staple in our PT community. As one of the largest Catholic Churches in the Diocese of Greensburg, we strive to fulfill our mission by creating an environment where all feel welcome. In the words of St. Benedict, "Let all guests be received as Christ."
