Lieutenant Colonel Tony Ference
was kind enough to sent us a thank you letter.
« Click Here » to see the letter we received.
An email was opened over the Memorial Day Weekend by Rheba Salac, Communications Liaison for St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church in Harrison City, PA. It was from Judy Ference, a "Marine Mom" whose son, USMC Lt. Col. Anthony Ference, is currently serving in Afghanistan; Lt. Col. Ference is responsible for 800 Marines. Judy was simply saying thank-you for prayers and emails from HelpOurHeroes, a local Marine-support networker.
Permission was requested of Judy for children at St. Barbara's to write letters to Lt. Col. Ference's Marines, and the writing campaign has officially begun, opening to children and adults in Irwin/Penn Township and surrounding communities and Churches. Lt. Col. Ference is from Trafford, and a graduate of Penn-Trafford High School.
If your or your child would like to write to one of Lt. Col. Ference's Marines to say thank-you for service and sacrifice, please drop off the letter in the collection basket at Mass or mail to:

If you are a Church or business posting the letter-writing campaign, please collect and dropoff at the Parish Office or use the mailing address. The letters will be boxed and forwarded. If you'd like to send a $10 ComfortKit of 5 full-size Avon SkinSoSoft & Moisture Therapy shower/hand/body skin-care products to alleviate harsh environment problems, please include your check (to HelpOurHeroes ) with your contact information in your note. Avon donates all profit for Marine support.
HelpOurHeroes connects and hosts Marine Family Programs, Marine Corps University Foundation, and supporting Pastors and Churches; the networker is considering support to the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and would appreciate input from interested parties; you can write to Mrs. Salac at St. Barbara Church or email to: . Information from anyone interested in similar focus for other Armed Forces is welcome.
"Each time we speak with a Marine, spiritual concept is always there, and prayer is requested," Mrs. Salac states. "There is a front line of (prayer) warriors here at home; it is made up of families, friends, and believers in God and country. The concept is simple: Want to save a life? Say a prayer every day - believe it."
