Saint Barbara’s has continued to provide generations with practices of faith, commitment to education, social issues and pastoral concerns.
To ensure the legacy of St. Barbara’s Church for decades to come, you may choose to share the blessings you’ve received from god, through a planned gift to your parish.
Planned giving assures that the vitality of our parish, which means so much to us today, will continue long into the twenty first century.
Ways to give a lasting gift to Saint Barbara’s:
Will/Bequests
A gift by will is one of the easiest and most effective means of ensuring that your family and friends are fully provided for by your estate, while supporting the important work of your Church.
Wills can specify that the remainder of your estate go to Saint Barbara’s after family and friends have been taken care of. Or they can specify Saint Barbara’s receive a predetermined, fixed gift, be it cash, securities, property, or valuables. In fact, anything one owns at the time of death may be passed on to the church through one’s will.
Your attorney can execute a simple legal device known as a “codicil” if you have already executed your will, but would like to amend it to include a donation to Saint Barbara’s. This will allow you to make necessary changes at any time without having to “rewrite” your entire will.
Gift of Life Insurance
The gift of life insurance is easy, convenient and may allow you to make a larger gift than you thought possible. Consult your insurance professional to discuss ways to donate your life insurance policy to Saint Barbara’s.
Life-Income Gifts
You may use cash or the value of other assets (stock, savings bonds) to purchase an annuity or create a trust. The donor receives fixed payments for their lifetime-the remainder goes to the parish.
Charitable Gift Annuities provide for you and your family’s financial future with a dependable, secure and unchanging life income as you provide income for your parish with the remainder of the annuity.
Gifts of Real Estate or Personal Property
You may choose to give your personal residence, farm, or vacation home to the Church. Through a charitable life estate contract you would deed the property to the church now, but would retain the right to live in the home for the remainder of your lifetime. By making this type of transfer, you would ensure a rapid conveyance of the property to the Church at the time of your death.
Gifts such as cash, jewelry, vehicles, etc., have certain tax advantages over a gift which takes effect after death.
