Lectors
Information:
Hearing the written word proclaimed aloud can be more effective than just reading it with our eyes. We have the opportunity to reach our fellow sisters and brothers with our enthusiasm for God's written Word.
"When the Scriptures are read in the church, God himself is speaking to his people and Christ, present in his own words, is proclaiming the Gospel." (GIRM,n.29)
Who Can Become a Lector?
Anyone fully initiated into the Catholic church, who enjoys reading and proclaiming Scripture during Sunday Mass.
Anticipated Time Commitment:
Lectors will be assigned to the Mass times of their choice for a 3 month schedule including Holy days and Holidays, with the ability to re-schedule if the need arises.
Training will be provided for new Lectors. Lectors new to St. Barbara's will be instructed in our procedures.
