Saint of the Day

St. Barbara Church - Mother's Circle

Information:

The Mothers Circle is a playgroup and support network for families with small children. We provide moms and caregivers with a source of friendship, support and inspiration while their kids play, socialize and make friends in a safe, nurturing environment.

Weekly meetings include free play, circle time, adult and kid-friendly snacks, a craft or other activity, and all-around fun. The Mothers Circle also puts on special holiday parties, moms’ night out socials and events for the whole family.

The Mothers Circle is much more than a playgroup – it builds up the parish community and reaches out to local area families.

Building Parish Community
The Mothers Circle is a gateway into the parish community for young families to build connections with the church and each other. This opportunity to form friendships at church leads to more involvement in the parish.

Mothers Circle families (past and present) are visible at mass, in the formation program, on pastoral council, the festival committee, the choir, faith sharing groups, RCIA team and other parish ministries. We provide volunteers, new members and occasional financial donations to the church.

Reaching Out
Founded in 1992, the Mothers Circle is a Catholic organization that is open to all local families. We believe that all families need a supportive community network. Several Mothers Circle members and their family members have participated in RCIA and joined St. Barbara parish.

Expected Time Commitment:

The Mothers Circle meets Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the St. Barbara social hall from September through May.

Opportunities are available to coordinate special committees which may require additional time commitments.

Sessions begin in September and January. A semi-annual $15 membership fee helps to fund juice for snack time, craft supplies, and administration.
