Who can attend?
The Kentucky Youth Project is for those currently in 8th grade through college seniors (2021-2022 school year) as well as select chaperones.
We are looking for chaperones with skills in construction and general contracting as well as a heart for service and a love for working with teens. All chaperones must be in compliance with Diocesan Child Protection Policies.
Where will we stay?
Lodging will be in cabins within ten minutes of our main service site, Good Shepherd Church in Beattyville, KY. Teens will be housed with other teens. Adults will be housed with other adults.
How much will it cost and what does it include?
The total cost of the week will be $600. This cost will include housing, travel, food, and all supplies for the service work. The hope is that each St. Barbara attendee would fundraise at least half of the trip through fundraisers sponsored by St. Barbara Youth Ministry. Remaining funds would be the responsibility of the participant. Francis Fund scholarship may be available in the amount of $300 to those who did not use funding during the 2021-2022 school year. Those who attended NCYC are not eligible for an additional scholarship.
How will we get there?
Adult chaperones will be transporting participants in personal vehicles as well as some rental vehicles. All adult chaperones will be required to complete all Child Protection Mandates.
How do I register?
Spaces are limited. Those attending must commit to being present for at least 3 youth ministry events from January 1 - June 1, 2022. Participation in three fundraisers is also required. This includes Light Up Penn Trafford, Spring New To You Sale, and at least one monthly donut sale. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due with registration.
