Children entering second grade or at least seven years of age are invited to be a part of the Faith Formation process in which they will prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and First Eucharist. This preparation process is family based, age-appropriate and designed to help our children to grow in reverence and understanding of themselves as disciples of Jesus within the family of the Catholic Church. It will build on their Baptism and the understanding they have already come to in their early years of development.
We no longer teach children in isolation from their families. Our goal is to work with families to assist them as a primary part of the process in instructing and preparing their children for the sacraments. A central part of children’s preparation for the sacraments is their regular participation in the Sunday Mass, as well as participation in monthly Foundations of Faith sessions. Therefore, especially during this year of Sacrament Preparation, we encourage you to make regular family Sunday celebration of Mass a priority. The 10:30 a.m., Sunday Liturgy will be an integral part of the preparation during this important year.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s sacramental preparation, please contact Joan Duncan, Director of Faith Formation, at 724-744-7474 (ext. 105).
